Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on Wester Breich Road in West Calder which took place around 1.10am this morning when a silver Citroen DS3 was reported as having left the road and collided with a tree.

Emergency services attended and, sadly, the 47-year-old female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A stretch of road between the A705 and B7015 was closed until around 8am to allow investigations to be carried out.

Sergeant Neil Inglis of the Road Policing Unit said:

“The woman’s next of kin have been informed and our condolences are with them at this very difficult time.

“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision continues, and we’d ask anyone who can help to come forward.

“Anyone who may have witnessed this collision, or who saw the Citroen beforehand, is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or make an anonymous report through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
