Maureen_Child_17_200x200The Edinburgh Reporter posed a number of questions to people around the city – here are some of the answers from Councillor Maureen Child who represents the Portobello/Craigmillar Ward.

Are you a home bird or is this time to go on holiday? If so, then where do you like to get away to?

Mostly a Portobello home bird.

What are your family’s Christmas traditions?

Spending some time with friends and family eating good food, a walk on the Promenade and a good book.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Christmas Day, sometimes spilling into Boxing Day.

What is your favourite Christmas cracker joke?

Don’t have one. Never remember jokes and often don’t find them funny.

What is the best Christmas song or music?

Traditional carols.  Don’t ask me to choose just  one!

What is your recommendation for a Christmas box set binge?

The West Wing this Christmas, definitely.

What is your recommended book this Christmas?

‘Almost a Whale’ by Steve Jones. It’s been looking at me from my bookshelves for a while now.

Christmas sweater or no Christmas sweater?

Definitely no Christmas sweater, if I can possibly avoid it!
