Challenge: Scotland (men) 1, Russia 2 (match played in Barcelona)

Scotland’s senior men were beaten 2-1 by a late goal in their first of three test matches against Russia in Barcelona as they kick-start the build-up for World League 2 in Belfast in March.
Wei Adams, who plays in Germany, opened the scoring for the Scots from a penalty corner just before half-time.
Russia equalised ten minutes into the second half exploiting a poor piece of Scottish play then they snatched victory after the ball was thrown into the circle and, with sticks flying, it ended up looping over goalkeeper David Forrester (Edinburgh University) and into the the net.
Derek Forsyth, Scotland men’s head coach, said: “I felt we controlled the first half and had several chances to add to our goal tally but Russia were the sharper side in the second period.
“I’m disappointed to have lost the match but I’m pleased with the performance and the effort of the players.”
