Four Edinburgh-based players have been named in Scotland’s men’s hockey squad which starts its build-up to World League Two (WL2) with a training camp in Spain which includes three games against Russia.
Jamie Wong (pictured above against India under-23) and goalkeeper David Forrester (both Edinburgh University) plus Duncan Riddell and Cammy Fraser (both Grange) play Russia from January 15 to 18 ahead of the World League in Belfast from 11 to 19 March where the top two qualify for the next stage of World League.
Former Kelburne star Kenny Bain, Scotland’s top striker with over 150 caps, has opted out to concentrate on domestic hockey in Holland and said: “Massive good luck for the coming months with prep for WL2 starting.
“Exciting things ahead with this young talented group. Sad, but I have decided to take some time out now and focus on my own matters but would love to be able to be there.
“Unfortunately, I had to make this choice. Good luck troops.”
The squad for Spain: David Forrester and Jamie Wong (Edinburgh University), Rory Kerr and Lee Morton (Bromac Kelburne), Wei Adams (Dusseldorf), Russell Anderson (Cannock), Tim Atkins (Reading), Michael Bremner (Klipper THC, Germany), Gavin Byers and Ben Cosgrove (Grove Menzieshill), Callum Duke (Hillhead), Alan Forsyth, Nick Parkes and William Marshall (Surbiton), David Forsyth (Qui Vive, Holland), Cammy Fraser and Duncan Riddell (Grange), Ed Greaves (Nurnberger HTC, Germany), Hamish Imrie (Schaerweijde, Holland), Nick Samra (Teddington).
