People Know How is an Edinburgh-based charity which is just four years old, but it has big ideas for people in the city.

With support and guidance they aim to solve social issues in communities, and next week they will formally launch their Community Space at Ocean Terminal where they will host over 40 organisations.

Everything from book binding and community arts demonstrations to break dancing will be conducted in the space and a launch event on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 January will ensure that you can find out what is going on in your community.

The programme is reproduced below and there will be opportunities to find out about volunteering and the various organisations who will use the space. And there will be many activities such as these :

  • Collect a FREE Smart Meter and learn how to save energy with Home Energy Scotland.
  • Bring science to life with Fun Palace, Leith Labs and Science Ceilidh.
  • Have your say about Leith with Inspiring Leith.
  • Come and help build a bike with RUTS (Rural and Urban Training Scheme).
  • Learn how to become a master break dancer with The State.
  • Take part in a drama workshop with Grandram.
  • Help decorate a piano courtesy of Glasgow Piano City.
  • Unlock your computer’s full potential with Re:Connect and O2 at Ocean Terminal

The Community Space is a FREE accessible space in Ocean Terminal that is available to charities, community groups and individuals.

It is managed and maintained by a team of volunteers and has been host to organisations such as Project Scotland, EaRN and NHS Talkability in the past.
