Ice hockey – Brave Capitals out of play-off contention
Elite League; Manchester Storm 3, Dundee Stars 6; Fife Flyers 3, Breahead Clan 1; Edinburgh Capitals 2, Nottingham Panthers 3
Edinburgh Capitals hopes of making the end-of-season play-offs ended with the 3-2 defeat by Nottingham Panthers on Saturday.
The home side were 3-0 down to goal from Ollie Betteridge, Deivids Sarkanis and Stephen Schultz who netted for the visitors inside the first 23 minutes.
Bottom club Capitals counted with goals after 29 minutes from Karel Hromas and Pavel Vorobyev with 44 seconds left of the game.
But it was not enough and they are out in the play-off cold once again.
Fife Flyers beat Scottish rivals Braehead Clan for the first time this season after the sides were level at 1-1.
Chase Schaber fired Fife ahead after 15 minutes and Stefan Della Rovere levelled in the 38th minute.
But Mathew Sisca after 48 minutes and Russ Moyer with 35 seconds left secured the win.
Dundee Stars beat play-off rivals Manchester Storm for the second time in less than a week.
But they had to come from 2-0 down to win 6-3 with Kevin Bruijsten netting a glory treble and Felix-Antoine Poulin a double.
At the other end of the table, Cardiff Devils, the long-time leaders of the Elite League, have been confirmed as champions.
