Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seen to be assaulted on Kirk Brae last night.

The incident happened around 5.25 pm when a man approached another man at the junction with Claverhouse Drive, assaulted him and then made off in a transit-type van.

The victim is described as male, white, 30 to 40-years-old, medium build to heavy build and short dirty blond hair.

He was wearing a grey hooded top and black 3/4 length shorts with stripes down the side. He may have injuries to his face.

The male who assaulted him is described as white, 40 to 50-years-old, skinny build, dressed all in black.

Detective Sergeant Bruce Coutts of Edinburgh CID said: “We are keen to identify both the victim and assailant in this incident and are asking anyone who witnessed it to please get in touch.

“Similarly if the man who was assaulted sees this appeal, we are asking him to contact police on 101.”
