Scotland’s Gardening Festival, 2-4 June 2017

Go along to The Royal Highland Centre which will undergo a transformation this week to become the biggest flower fair in Scotland.

The festival promises beautiful flowers, equipment and a wide variety of gardening tools. More than 400 exhibitors will be featured.

Gardening Scotland also offers plenty of delicious snacks and lunches, including a Food Fair, shopping and activities for children.

 

Meadows Chamber Orchestra: Evans/Westwell

Meadows Chamber Orchestra, Saturday 3 June 2017, 7.45pm

Conductor and soloist Peter Evans plays and directs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23, one of his best loved works. Talented pianist Jack Westwell, winner of the 2015 Edinburgh Concerto Competition, also performs Poulenc’s energetic Piano Concerto. Ticket details here

Edinburgh College of Art Degree Show 2017: Starting on 3 June 2017, The Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) opens its doors to exhibit the works of artists graduating this year. Visitors will also be given the opportunity to speak to the artists themselves about their work, or even invest in works on display. Opening hours for the exhibition are 11am-5pm.

Bierfest, June 1-4 2017

Celebrate the beginning of summer in Princes Street Gardens and enjoy a range of German beers and food at Bierfest. The festival is family-friendly and will feature a 1200 seat beer garden, 300-seater tent with table service and a spectacular DJ show in the evening. The festival is organised by the founders of Edinburgh’s Oktoberfest and presents a taste of Bavarian culture and cuisine- all staff are to be dressed in traditional German costume.

Kate Hunter: The Caseroom at Blackwell’s Bookshop, 31 May 2017 at 6.30pm

Edinburgh author Kate Hunter will be launching her debut novel, The Caseroom, at Blackwell’s. The novel is set against the backdrop of Edinburgh’s thriving print industry in the last nineteenth century. Iza is one of the first women who has been allowed to work as a typesetter in a predominantly male industry which is resistant to change.
