The early-season nighmare continues for Berwick Bandits who have skidded to another defeat.

Their eighth straight reverse came at Scunthorpe Scorpions and Bandits are stuck at the bottom of the ten-strong Championship table without a point.

Newcastle Diamonds are ninth with six points from four matches while, at the other end of the table, Edinburgh Monarchs lead with 16 points from six fixtures.

Glasgow Tigers are second also with 16 points from the same number of matches.

Back to Berwick and the Scunthope defeat came despite nine points each from newcomer Nick Morris and skipper Kevin Doolan.

Michael Palm Toft was best for the home side with 13 points.

It was Berwick’s second match of the Bank Holiday weekend after they lost 50-40 at home to Ipswich Witches

There Lewis Bridger scored 12 points and captain Doolan 11 points.

Meanwhile, ex-Edinburgh rider Rory Schlein won the first British title semi-final at Newcastle with 13 points. He won a run-off with Glasgow’s Richie Worrall who also collected 13 points.
