Scotland’s senior women have landed a trip to Malaysia to take part in an International Test Tournament in Kuala Lumpur from 13 – 17 June 2017.

The team will go head-to-head with hosts Malaysia, two regional teams from China and another two regional teams from Taiwan.

The trip to Asia will play a pivotal part in their preparations for next year’s Commonwealth Games which will take place on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Bart Sengers, women’s national performance coach, Bart Sengers believes it will be a good test for his team:

He said: “This is a great opportunity for our team to compete internationally. Trips like this always help to bring a team together and it will be a great test for all of the players that are selected.

“We’re excited to start camp later this week with all eyes on securing qualification for next year’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.”

Barry Lang, head of basketball at basketballscotland, said: “The team at basketballscotland have been working hard in the background to secure competitive games for both our men’s and women’s programmes and this will be a really exciting opportunity for those players involved.”
