A police investigation is underway after staff at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary became suspicious of a man earlier today.

Officers were called to the hospital just after 9am this morning and along with NHS security carried out a search of the area however the man has not been traced at this time.

A police spokesperson said; “Police in Edinburgh attended the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary at 9.06 am today, Thursday 22nd June, after staff became suspicious about a man seen in the hospital.

“Officers made a search of the hospital along with NHS security.

“The man was not traced and further inquiries are being carried out to establish his reason for being at the hospital.”
