‘Sometimes she imagines herself in army films, sometimes in musicals and sometimes she imagines being knocked off a gondola by a very large wave; this isn’t what she thought procedural and semantic recall recovery would be like.’

Forget About The Dog presents: 100 Ways to Tie a Shoe-Lace

After a successful run with their 5* performance of ‘The Life and Times of Lionel’, Forget About The Dog are returning to Edinburgh with another piece of theatrical mayhem.

Kat’s always tied her laces in a bow, but following the accident, she’s struggling to remember how. Could some unusual visitors help? A comedic and imaginative take on the realigning of one person’s mind. Plunged into a world of confusion, she’ll have to confront her situation if she’s going to get back to her old self. A creative mash-up of witty dialogue, puppetry, original music and physical theatre; to serve you up some performative tapas. Mix-ups, mayhem and muscle memory.

Forget About The Dog are a distinctive company, dedicated to cohesive nonsense, thought provoking whimsy and well-made tea (we cannot guarantee tea will be provided). Comprising of Leeds University graduates, we each have a passion for different genres of theatre, striving to bring as many of these interests to our work. As a vibrant and imaginative collective we all take an equal part in writing, performing, directing, choreographing, composing, devising, and designing our shows, bringing a voice born out of a plethora of comedic tastes and styles.

Speaking on what makes Forget About The Dog’s approach unique, company member Joshua Ling said;

“We take individual and original experiences and put them in a quirky context, which audiences can easily relate to. This is then delivered using a variety of experimental theatre conventions that an audience may not be familiar with, leading them to explore whichever avenues of their imagination they are taken to. We find the simplicities and humour of day-to-day life, where you may not think there are any. Through our surreal concepts, we show what our characters are experiencing, allowing audiences to have an insight into their life and have their perception of the everyday challenged.

We are very keen to share these 55 minutes of madness with you, and hope you leave the theatre empathetic towards our character’s situation, having been engaged and excited.”

This show has been solely funded by us. It is being brought to you through wages of an arts marketer, an extras actor, a recycling administrator, a waitress and a night bus driver.
