Detectives are attempting to trace a woman who was the subject of an attempted robbery in George Square on Friday 21st July.

The incident happened around 8pm when a man approached her and tried to take her handbag off her. A struggle ensued but she was able to hold onto her bag.

She is described as being white, slim-built, around 30-40-years-old with straight shoulder-length dark hair. She is around 5ft 8 inches tall and was wearing a top with thick dark horizontal stripes and carrying a cloth shoulder bag.

The male suspect is described as being around 35-40-years-old, 6ft tall and wearing a white top. He was in the company of another man of similar description but shorter.

Officers are now keen to speak to the woman to take the investigation forward.

Detective Constable Stephen Herd of the Violence Reduction Unit at Gayfield said: “This crime was reported to us by a third party and we are keen to speak to the woman involved.

“I’d ask her to contact us at Gayfield by calling 101.”
