Challenge: Edinburgh Capitals 1, Manitoba Bisons (Canada) 2

Newcomer Calum Robertson had a debut to remember for Edinburgh Capitals.

The young player scored in the first period of his first game for the Elite League club and was made Man of the Match.

Capitals, however, suffered a late setback in their pre-season challenge against a Canadian touring side.

The Murrayfield men were 1-0 down after only four minutes if the first period to Manitoba Bisons when Lucas Skrumeda netted.

Robertson, son of former Capitals player Iain Robertson, who also iced for Fife Flyers, levelled six minutes later, placing the puck in the top of the net at the near side .

The scoreline stayed the same until six seconds from time when the visitors netted through Michael Stcroix against the under-strength Scots.

Bisons now move on to Glasgow where they face Braehead Clan on Thursday after beating Belfast Giants 6-4 and losing 7-6 after overtime in Northern Ireland.

And Capitals have time to work on their systems ahead of Sunday’s first competitive clash of the season against Scottish rivals Dundee Stars (face-off 6pm)
