Two of the SGB Championship’s play-off contenders clash head-on as Edinburgh Monarchs host Ipswich Witches on Friday (tapes-up 7.30pm).

And the Fen Country side arrive looking to avenge their sole home defeat this season from Monarchs last month.

Two league winning ex-Monarchs are in their line-up in Rory Schlein and Justin Sedgmen.

And British champion Danny King is another danger man.

German racer Mark Riss returns for Monarchs after a two- month absence and former Grand Prix rider Chris Harris makes his third appearance at Armadale in as many weeks replacing Edinburgh’s crocked skipper Sam Masters.

Both of his previous two appearances have resulted in double-digit scores.

Alex Harkess, Monarchs’ co-promoter, said: “We need to make away riders work to win races as we know that riders like Danny King and Rory Schlein are capable of big scores here.

“We can’t afford any more slip-ups at home and this Friday will be a challenge.”
