Martin Cingel, guided his squad to a convincing win over North Ayr

Murrayfield’s under-age ice hockey sides both enjoyed recent success in Northern Ireland.

The under-12 ice hockey side won 18-0 against Belfast Junior Giants and
the under-20 squad, won 11-5 against a strong side containing two Great Britain players.

The squads were held up for 90 minutes because of an accident en route to the ferry at Cairnryan.

And they only made the boat by minutes but they put that behind them to record significant successes.

Caly and Aaron Robertson, who also feature for Edinburgh Capitals in the Elite League, plus Andrew Barr were influential.

So were Ross Borwick and Peter Haddock in defence but Gregor Ball required stitches after being hit on the chin by a flying puck.

Meanwhile, coach Martin Cingel tells me that Edinburgh Capitals’ Scottish National League side thrashed North Ayr 13-0 at Murrayfeld on Sunday.

Caly Robertson claimed four goals and Harry Ferguson three with Ross Hay netting two and Craig Main, Joel Gautschi, Aaron Robertson and Mike Ireland one each.

Cingel said this was another solid performance fro the squad who were delighted with the clean shet but the Slovakian said: “We are still work in progress.”
