Four-time world speedway champion Greg Hancock will attend Glasgow Tigers’ SGB Championship clash with Ipswich Witches on Wednesday as a special guest.

It will be the first visit by the American to the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium and fans will have the chance to meet the rider and buy his merchandise.

The 47-year-old, who is sitting out the rest of the season with an injury, has strong links to Glasgow through sponsorship and he donned Tigers kevlars at each of the last two British Grand Prix in Cardiff.

Hancock said: “Over these last two years, the good people from Glasgow Allied Tigers, Grant Henderson and the great Gordon Pairman, a former Glasgow owner, have backed me during the British GP in Cardiff which I am totally grateful for.

“I couldn’t have a better group of people with so much enthusiasm behind me, for sure. Gordon and I have talked about my appearance in Glasgow for sometime now and I finally managed to get a free date to come and join you.

“I’m looking forward to catching up with all the fans on the night and I thank you again for your great support.”
