Edinburgh Waverley Station was evacuated this morning following a fire caused by a faulty air conditioner.

Emergency services were called to the station after the alarm was raised at around 10.50am on Sunday.

The fire, was extinguished 40 minutes later but major disruption was caused to rail travel.

The station re-opened at 11.40am.

Police confirmed that the incident was not terrorism related.

A spokesman for ScotRail said trains travelling via Edinburgh Waverley would be delayed or cancelled.
