Hibs’ Head Coach Neil Lennon admitted that he was disappointed with the manner of Celtic’s goals in the 4-2 defeat to Celtic at the national stadium this afternoon.

The champions went in at the break 2-0 up after a Mikael Lustig double, but Lennon insists that both goals were avoidable.

A double substitution at half time with Steven Whittaker and Martin Boyle replacing David Gray and Vykintas Slivka orchestrated a comeback and Anthony Stokes halved the deficit with a well-taken penalty.

Moussa Dembele made it 3-1 before substitute Oli Shaw pulled another goal back with his first touch.

With the result on a knife edge, Dembele wrapped things up two minutes from full time although there was a hint of offside on the part of Scott Sinclair in the build up.

After the game Lennon said: “I didn’t think there was anything in the game. I didn’t think we were being bombarded.

“Celtic dominated possession and that was fine, we were happy to let them have it in certain areas.

“We  had a bit of a mountain to climb but we came back very strongly in the second half and almost got something out of the game.

“You can’t give a team of that calibre  a head start.

“I’m disappointed with the manner of the goals, they could have been avoided.

“We played really well, our football was good but the little things all add up. Those little bits of extra quality that they have over us was the difference today.”

Hibs now face Hearts at Easter Road on Tuesday night in front of a sell out crowd.
