Serious Assault on doorman in Queen Street

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after a door steward was seriously assaulted outside a bar on Queen Street, Edinburgh.
The 28-year-old man was working outside Brambles about 00.45am on Sunday 24th July when three men approached him. The men then got into an argument with him, which resulted in one of the men punching him and knocking him unconscious. He was taken to hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw – he has now been released from hospital.
The suspect is described as being white, in his 30-35-years-old with fair hair. He was wearing a light blue top and dark trousers. One of the other men was the same age of stocky build with short dark hair and a dark shirt.
A police spokesperson said: “This has been a violent attack on a door steward in an area that would have been quite busy with revellers at the time.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened, or who recognises the description of the suspect, to contact police on 0131 311 3131.”

Police seek witness to serious assault

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for a significant witness to come forward following an alleged serious assault in Edinburgh in February.
Thirty-seven-year-old Mark Cochrane, from Upper Grove Place, Edinburgh, suffered serious facial injuries following an incident at his home on Friday 18th February around 7pm.
It is believed that after the incident, Mr Cochrane walked to Grove Street where a vehicle stopped and the driver offered assistance.
Police are keen to talk to the driver of this vehicle in order to establish exactly what happened.
A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with this incident, and has appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday 8th April.
Mr Cochrane was admitted to hospital on Sunday 27th February, and subsequently died on Wednesday 30th March.
A police spokesperson said: “We are seeking to trace the person who stopped to help Mr Cochrane following the incident in Upper Grove Place, as we are seeking to establish exactly what happened as a result of that incident.
“We are appealing directly to that driver to come forward as they may have information which could prove vital to the investigation.
“Anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have seen a man with bad facial injuries in the street, should contact police as a matter of urgency.”

Young boy assaulted in Muirhouse

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after a young boy was assaulted in the Muirhouse area of Edinburgh on Monday afternoon March 21.
The 11-year-old and his sister were playing in the grounds of St Paul’s Church on Muirhouse Avenue, near Pennywell Road, about 4.15pm when a man approached them. He grabbed the boy by the neck, pinned him against the fence, then threw him to the ground, before running off and getting on a bus (possibly a 37) on Pennywell Road.
The suspect is described as being white, in his early 20s, 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build with a full moustache. He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a red hooded Nike jumper, with the hood pulled up over a Nike baseball cap.
A police spokesperson said: “Although he wasn’t injured, this has been a terrifying experience for the young boy.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and who may have seen what happened, to get in touch.”

Serious assault in Tollcross

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and woman were seriously assaulted in the Tollcross area of Edinburgh.
The incident happened around 3am on Sunday 13th March in Earl Grey Street. The man and woman, who are both 24, were walking in the area following a night out when they encountered a group of people between the Tesco and Omni Furnishing stores.
An argument has then taken place resulting in the woman being punched to the face by a female suspect and falling to the ground. Another female and possibly a male have joined in the assault and kicked the woman while she was on the ground.
The man she was with then tried to intervene but was also punched to the face by the group and suffered a broken jaw.
He was taken to the ERI and then later to St John’s Hospital for treatment.
The woman suffered bruising to her jaw, arms and legs.
Detectives are now keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the assault.
The first suspect is described as female, white, 18 or 19-years-old, 5ft 5ins or 5ft 6ins tall with short straight black hair. She was wearing a black dress with short sleeves and appeared to be heavily bronzed with a lot of make-up and fake eyelashes.
The second suspect is described as white, 18 or 19-years-old, around 5ft 4ins tall with short styled strawberry blonde hair. She was wearing glasses and a lot of make-up with red circles on her cheeks.
There is no description of the male suspect believed to be involved.
A police spokesman said: ‘Both victims have suffered painful injuries following this assault and we are eager to hear from anyone who can help us identify and locate the suspects.
‘Anyone who was on Earl Grey Street at around 3am on Sunday morning and saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police immediately.
‘Similarly, anyone with any other information that can assist with our enquiries is also asked to come forward.’

Woman assaulted in Bellevue area of the city

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted and robbed, and a man assaulted, in the Bellevue area of Edinburgh on Friday morning.
The incident happened around 6.40am in Mansfield Place, Edinburgh near to Drummond High School. The 27-year-old, who had been walking to the St Andrews Street bus station, was approached from behind by a male.
The victim was grabbed round the neck and punched to the face before the male made off with her bag, which contained a small amount of cash and personal items.
A member of the public who was jogging by at the time intervened and was also assaulted. The culprit then ran off in the direction of Bellevue Place.
Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious to come forward. The suspect is described as being white, around 5ft 8ins tall, early twenties, thin nose, slight to medium build, with short blonde curly hair. He was wearing a shiny black Adidas tracksuit top and dark bottoms.
A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to the incident especially as the suspect had been seen loitering near the roundabout at East London Street just prior to the incident.
“We are also aware that a bus may have stopped and rendered assistance to the victim.
“This was a totally unprovoked and violent attack on a young female simply walking to her work and there was no necessity for the level of violence used.’
Witness appeal

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault in a nightclub in Edinburgh in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A 19-year-old man suffered a broken jaw in the incident in the Liquid Rooms, in Victoria Street, between 1-1.15am.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, and was released on undertaking to appear at court at a later date.
A police spokesperson said: ‘There would have been a number of people in the area at the time of this incident, and we are asking anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.’
Attack in Edinburgh’s New Town

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was assaulted in the capital.
The incident happened around 2am on Friday 20th August in the West Scotland Street area of the city.
The 17-year-old was walking home when a male approached from behind and pulled her into West Scotland Street Lane, where she was knocked to the ground and assaulted.
The male attempted to remove the girl’s upper clothing but she was able to call for assistance and several members of the public came to her aid.
The suspect then fled the scene up Scotland Street where he was lost to sight.
Detectives are now appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.
The suspect is described as white, between 20 and 30-years-old, 5ft 9ins tall and wearing casual clothing.
A police spokesman said: ‘Thankfully, the victim was uninjured and was quickly assisted my members of the public following this incident.
‘Nevertheless, given the apparent sexual motivation of this assault, we are treating this extremely seriously and are urging anyone who was in Scotland Street or the surrounding areas and saw anything suspicious to come forward immediately.
‘Similarly, anyone with information that can assist with our enquiries or who recognises the description of the suspect should also contact police.’
