Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in Edinburgh over the weekend.

The incident happened around 7.35pm last Friday 7 October 2011 at an address in Boswall Terrace in the city.

A 25-year-old man was in a house with a 25-year-old woman when three men called at the front door. The men then forced their way into the property and attacked the man before stealing various items and fleeing the scene.

Police and ambulance services both responded and the victim was taken to the ERI where he was treated for puncture wounds to his back, arm and leg.

Officers are now keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the disturbance.

All three men are described as wearing dark clothing, black baseball caps and had scarves covering their faces. The suspects all spoke in fluent Polish throughout the incident. The first suspect is described as white, 6ft 4ins tall and with a muscular build. The second suspect is described as white, approximately 5ft 9ins tall with a skinny build. The third suspect is described only as being white.

A police spokesman said: “The victim suffered serious significant injuries and it is very fortunate these were not more serious. We are carrying out local enquiries to identify those responsible for this attack and anyone who saw anything suspicious in or around Boswall Terrace on Friday evening should contact police immediately. Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspects and can assist in identifying them is also asked to come forward.”

Anyone with any information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
