Scotland’s Solicitor General has heaped praise on the work of Victim Support Scotland and thanked the charity on behalf of prosecutors across the country. The charity this year celebrates 25 years in existence.

Frank Mulholland QC, addresssing the 2010 VSS Annual General Meeting in the City Chambers, Glasgow yesterday said that partnership working between the Crown Office Procurator Fiscal’s Office (COPFS) and Victim Support Scotland meant that victims were now at the heart of criminal justice in Scotland.

The support of Mr Mulholland waas welcomed by Chairman Bob Leitch and David McKenna, VSS Chief Executive. David McKenna outlined a number of key milestones in the first 25 years of VSS’s existence and said that there was “no going back” on the services provided to victims and witnesses of crime.

Four new members of the Executive Board, Stephen Meighan, Jennifer Welsh, Tom Peat and Cathy Findlay were confirmed and existing Board member Susan Mallinder was elected as a Vice-Chair.She replaces Pat Bolton in that capacity.
