More than half-way through the first month of 2011, and some of you must be heaving sighs of relief that it is Friday. We have had a monumental week with the largest number of daily hits on Monday when we brought you photographs of the fire in Buckingham Terrace.

Two buses were damaged in Edinburgh yesterday when youths threw bricks and a traffic cone from an overpass on Clovenstone Road according to the BBC.

The changes to the plan for Edinburgh Airport will have a knock-on effect at The Royal Highland Showground where The Scotsman tell us they will be staying on the existing site for at least 30 years.

STV report that an AA survey has revealed that Edinburgh roads are among the worst in the UK. We probably already knew that though. If you spot any holes in the road that need urgent attention then you can report them to the council by using the wonderful FixMyStreet website. Our article of 12 January told you how to do this.

The City of Edinburgh Council has been urged to take action on the 10,000 or so houses which are lying empty in the city. The Scotsman has the story.

Edinburgh Leisure continue to promote the city’s leisure facilities by their Get Your Spark Back initiative. If you join in January you pay nothing till March. And there are many gyms, swimming pools and other leisure facilities in the city, offering you a reasonably priced way to get fit this year. No excuses!
