Fused Edinburgh is a new and exciting acoustic Music Festival being held in The Music Box at Stevenson College Edinburgh, on Friday 3 June 2011.

Fused features excellent music from internationally acclaimed artists such as Phil Cunningham. Fused Edinburgh is also proud to present some great up and coming musicians from the acoustic music scene in Britain. All profits will be donated to the “Plan UK children’s charity appeal for Japan”.

Friday The 3rd will be a night of traditional Scottish music from 6:30-11:30 pm and will feature Phil Cunningham and Ewan McLennan. The night will finish with a ceilidh for all.

Event Director, Scott Waterson, commented:-
“There’s already a huge acoustic music scene in Edinburgh but we really wanted to create a festival that fully reflects the talent in Edinburgh and brings them all under one roof. There is an emphasis on musical worth over profit, unlike many major music festivals. Great acts such as Malcolm McFarlane with Mr McFall’s Chamber and Roddy Hart have already been confirmed and we are currently adding artists to our emerging artists’ bill which promises to host some of the brightest up and coming talent in Britain.”

Ticket Prices:

Friday 3rd June, 6.30pm to 11.30pm  – £10 (£8 concession)

Doors open for wristband collection at 18:00 and then the line up is as follows:

Main Stage:

18:45 – Annette Chapman: The evening is kicked off with a set from this exciting Singer/Songwriter playing songs from her extensive catalogue of Americana, Pop & Contemporary folk. Annette is accompanied by guitarist and songwriting partner, Callum Chapman. A recent review from Blues Matter’s Magazine described her voice as “nothing less than stunning”

19:30 – Simon Kempston: Having performed at sell-out shows at major festivals such as Celtic Connections, the Maryport Blues Festival, Fairport Convention’s Cropredy Festival and the Glasgow Jazz Festival, Simon has also performed to critical acclaim across Europe.

20:15 – Phil Cunningham: in collaboration with Jenn Butterworth & Laurie Crump and accompanied by the RSAMD and SCE student folk bands. We are so grateful and delighted to be able to present this item on our bill.  We all know Phil as a superb & innovative instrumentalist. The man who, in Scotland at least, made the accordion respectable again. As well as being an accomplished composer, performer and television presenter, he has also developed strong links with the RSAMD and has been awarded a professorship from that institution. This will be a unique opportunity here in Edinburgh to see all of these wonderful artists coming together under his guidance. With Jenn Butterworth and Laurie Crump, both exceptional musicians in their own right, and the accomplished students of the SCE & RSAMD traditional music courses, this is going to be a fabulous piece of entertainment.

21:15 – TBC

21:45 – Colin Train: In the last several months Colin & his band have supported a vast array of artist including Memphis singer song writer double bassist Amy LaVere (featured Jools Holland show Dec 08) , Pearl & the Puppets, Joe Brook & Skerryvore. With a second album just released, Colin’s star is in the ascendancy.

22:45 – David Latto: He is rushing to play for us after a gig at the Cupar Corn exchange with Skerryvore. David’s recent album received a glowing review from  Americana UK: “Latto’s voice is particularly compelling, warm and resonant, with just a touch of his native accent evident to add a wistful touch whilst the sparse arrangements, primarily just voice and guitar with a few harmonies and lead lines overdubbed, really allow the songs to shine”. A fabulous way to round off the night.
