Deidre Brock is the SNP candidate for the Leith Walk Ward.

This is what she told The Reporter:-

Councilllor Deidre Brock is the SNP councillor for the Leith Walk ward and is Convenor for Culture, Sport and Leisure. Born in Western Australia, Deidre grew up in Perth and studied at John Curtin University, achieving her BA in English. Accepted into the WA Academy of Performing Arts 3 year acting course in 1982, she moved to Sydney after graduation where she worked as an actor for ten years. During the not infrequent “resting” periods that occur in an actor’s life (!), she worked in fashion and furniture retail and in sales and customer service at Australia’s largest wine club.

Visiting Scotland in 1995, she took the decision to move here permanently in 1996, becoming personal assistant to the MD of a South African wine club based in Edinburgh, and then most recently working as Parliamentary assistant to Rob Gibson MSP in the Scottish Parliament. She stood for election to Edinburgh Council for the first time in 2007 and has been absolutely honoured to serve as a Leith Walk councillor ever since.

She is the mother of two girls, and her interests include theatre, netball, reading, cinema, traditional Scottish music and arts and swimming.
