The 26th Episcopal Bishop of Edinburgh, the Very Reverend Dr John Armes, was consecrated yesterday at St Mary’s Cathedral. The service was attended by the College of Bishops together with Cardinal Keith O’Brien with several other notable guests from the Church and local government.

Dr Armes was previously rector for 14 years of St John the Evangelist Church, Princes Street, Edinburgh, and Dean of the Diocese of Edinburgh. Prior to that, he was Area Dean of Rossendale and Priest in Charge of Goodshaw & Crawshawbooth in the Diocese of Manchester.
