Diamond Jubilee – Legionnaire’s Disease – Biggest Journey – Film Reviews – Queen App

The Diamond Jubilee is not quite over yet. The concert from Buckingham Palace will be on TV later and there is a holiday tomorrow to celebrate it. Actually most people elsewhere in Britain have taken today off too as a Bank Holiday. But in Edinburgh our schools are not closed, leading to a bit of an anomaly in the capital. According to The Edinburgh Evening News this will result in classrooms today being half empty. Only a few streets held Jubilee street parties yesterday reported The Scotsman, including Stockbridge Colonies and Ann Street. Did you have a party? Will you tell us about it below? And send us some photos?

STV report that four cases of Legionnaire’s disease have been confirmed in Edinburgh where four men are in intensive care in hospital. They have details of what this water borne illness is, but there is also a full explanation on the UK’s NHS website .  Most doctor’s surgeries should be open today although closed tomorrow and NHS Lothian has a handy list of pharmacy opening times here.

If you are “doing the Film Festival” would you like to either Tweet us 140 character reviews or send us something just a little longer by email? The Edinburgh International Film Festival begins on 20 June 2012. We will open up an article nearer the time to allow instant reviews to be posted. Are you interested in contributing to that? Do let us know by emailing us on theedinburghreporter@gmail.com or add a comment below.
