Morningside Library closed temporarily on 8 December 2012 to allow for treatment of dry rot within the building. The contractor has discovered that the dry rot is more extensive than was thought, and this means that the library will be closed for longer than was expected.

There is no estimate for a re-opening date at this time but the library service hope to have a clearer indication of timescales by the end of January.

In the meantime, the mobile library service operating from Falcon Road West will continue and the opening hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from week commencing 7 January 2013 will be extended. The new opening hours will be:

Monday – 10am – 7pm

Tuesday to Saturday – 10am – 4pm

The librarians are also looking at how they can make provision for some of their regular library events within the local area to reduce the impact on customers.
