Allan Smith from South Queensferry is a record holder, and, according to his coach, is well on course for a medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year. He recently achieved a new personal best which only adds to his earlier achievements. Allan is 6 feet 5 tall  so it does not take long to work out his chosen sport is  the high jump. The Reporter caught up with him at one of his mid-week training sessions at Grangemouth Stadium.

And here he is achieving that massive 2.22m breaking the Scottish native high jump record which was set 15 years ago. The feat allows him to qualify for the GB athletics team which go to Tampere Finland in July to compete in the European Under 23 Championships.

Allan currently holds all the main domestic high jump records at various ages including the Scottish Native, Scottish Universities, Scottish Schools, Scottish Athletics Indoor League and Scottish Athletics Under 20.
