The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society (RCHS) are staging their Spring Flower Show at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh today and tomorrow in the Fletcher Building beside the Glasshouses. Entry is £2 which is a small price to pay for the sheer beauty you will encounter inside.

The Caley’s Spring Show has many daffodils exhibited, even though the society had been concerned that there would not be as many  this year as a result of the bad weather, but a range of other blooms are also on display. Held annually, the show is open to entries to all, from the novice gardener to the more seasoned, with a range of different categories which are all set out in the schedule for the show which we have published below.

The Lady Provost’s Trophy for Best Entry in Alpine & Woodland Plants and other bulbs was won by Stan de Prato for his Fritillaria.

The schools competition is being shown in the John Hope Gateway.

The RCHS is directed by a council and Pam Whittle is the President of the council who describes herself as an enthusiastic gardener. The Society was originally homed in George Street in the building which now houses The Dome, and which was previously the Royal College of Physicians.
