Cramond Island – A walk in the Botanics – Greenyonder Tours – Sandemans Tours –  Ceilidh Club

On at least two occasions so far this year that we can recall large groups of people out walking on Cramond Island have been rescued by the lifeboat at RNLI Queensferry. We have published a photo of the island today to remind you that the causeway is covered when the tide comes in. This makes it impossible to walk back at certain times of the day. There is information about the weather and the tide times here.

Another place to go for a walk is the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. They offer daily walks around the gardens at 2pm. The expert garden guides will take you around and show you the seasonal delights of the Botanics. The cost is £5.  More details here.

Greenyonder Tours take people for a walk in the Old Town. Their website says:-“greenyonder tours is an Edinburgh-based company, offering walking tours that bring you closer to people and places you’d be unlikely to encounter otherwise, all on a green theme.

We started in summer 2008 with a range of garden tours which combined small, community spaces with larger, more traditional gardens.

Our strapline is see Edinburgh in a green light. We know there’s more to this than gardens alone.  So we’re delighted to be extending our programme to cover a wider range of green tours, all with the same mission to give you an experience that’s local, knowledgeable, friendly, and respectful to the communities we visit.” More information on their website.

Sandemans is another of the walking tour companies that Visit Scotland appears to endorse. They say that their guides are unpaid and you are not pressured to tip, even though the tour is free.
