The Ghost Bus Tours are going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival! As well as the newly formed Edinburgh Ghost Bus Tour running every single night, they are also putting on a brand new piece of comedy theatre onboard a classic 1960s Routemaster bus this August – Funeral Replacement Service.

This new show invites the audience to the funeral of Roger Cocksweets – a recently deceased bus driver – on the very bus he was driving when he died. In Roger’s will it stated that he wanted his coffin placed onboard the bus for one last trip around his favourite route – the beautiful city of Edinburgh. And you are all invited to his funeral.

The Necrobus is now officially registered as a venue for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (Venue 115), and the organisers are hoping that they will be a permanent fixture in the Festival. Funeral Replacement Service is their first trip into the heart of the Fringe. Even though it takes place onboard the Necrobus, it is a very different experience to any of their other shows – an interactive and very funny take on a funeral where all is not what it seems – and chaos reigns. Cameras, screens, microphones and audio/visual equipment onboard the bus will apparently combine to add to the experience.

The Ghost Bus Tours is a comedy theatre company who specialise in site-specific theatre onboard The Necrobus. Currently there is aGhost Bus Tour in London and Edinburgh, as well as The London Time Tour Bus.

Funeral Replacement Service is on every night from 1st – 26th August. Previews 1st – 4th at 23:00, then every night 5th – 26th at 23:00 and 00:30, departing from Waverley Bridge.

As a first time show and venue at Fringe, reviews are most welcome and actively encouraged. We are pleased to also inform you that the funeral replacement service will be hosting a special press reception aboard the bus on Monday 6th August. Spaces are limited so please do RSVP to ensure a seat at the fringe’s most unique mobile show in town.

  1. Today I saw a great show at the Edinburgh Fringe. Afterwards, unfortunately, I saw this. Funeral Replacement Service mainly consisted of poor jokes that got almost no reception from a bewildered audience that could not believe the show was actually meant to be funny. Although there may have been a couple of moments that deserved a slight chuckle, the director in particular showed no talent for delivering funny lines whatsoever, which was worsened by the poorly written script. Overall, the entire show was utterly disappointing. Don’t see this.
