All children … grow up. They soon know that they will grow up, and the way Wendy knew was this. One day when she was two years old she was playing in a garden, and she plucked another flower and ran with it to her mother… Mrs Darling put her hand to her heart and cried, ʻOh, why can’t you remain like this for ever! ʼ … henceforth Wendy knew that she must grow up. You always know after you are two. Two is the beginning of the endʼ (JM Barrie, Peter Pan)

Devised and directed by acclaimed young theatre company Fishbowl, @fishbowltheatre  ʻTwo is the Beginning of the Endʼ is a whirlwind ʻcoming of ageʼ adventure told through the trials and tribulations of adolescence. Fishbowl are working with 8 individuals (17years+) from across central Scotland on this autobiographical performances that explores the first tentative steps these individuals take into adulthood through a landscape of joy, apprehension and a 90ʼs childhood montage.

The moment when innocence suddenly turns into experience, the moment you realise the ʻpartyʼ is over and the moment you resign yourself to the fact that the fear of looming adulthood is ever present.

Recommended for those 14 years of age and over, audiences can relate to the poignancy of realising that, as much as you want to hang on to what you know, everything changes and nothing truly stays the same.

Since 2011 Fishbowl have created theatre where reality meets fiction.  The two little fishes work explores everyday culture within a theatre context.  We aim for you to have ‘good night out’; to be socially stimulated, politically provoked, moved and for the experience to linger long after the performance.

ʻTwo is the beginning of the endʼ is a fast paced, brutally poignant coming-of age story that explores the pain and adventure of growing up, the moment when innocence suddenly turns into experience and the ear of looming adulthood.
