Police have arrested six men in connection with several incidents that took place in the Corstorphine area at New Year.

The incidents occurred in the early hours on Thursday, January 1 at an address in Hillview Crescent when a group of male youths attempted to force entry to a family party they were not invited to.

When the men were denied entry they left and subsequently returned to the address with others.

They went on to commit a series of offences, including assault, culpable and reckless conduct, threatening and abuse behaviour and vandalism.

After extensive enquiries and intelligence gathering, officers arrested six men, all aged between 16-19, last night (Wednesday, February 4).

A number of vandalisms also took place locally in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Several cars were vandalised in Hillview Crescent, Hillview Road, Corstorphine Bank Drive and Corstorphine Bank Avenue. Anyone who witnessed this damage occur is asked to contact police.

Inspector Annicea Madine said: “This type of anti-social behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. This was an atrocious series of incidents, which left the family and their guests extremely alarmed and upset.

“Local community officers conducted an extensive investigation and it is through their efforts these men have been brought to justice. Reassurance patrols were carried out in the affected streets.

“However we are still appealing for witnesses regarding a number of car vandalism on the same night in the Corstorphine Bank Drive area. We ask anyone with information about these incidents to come forward.”
