PwC Edinburgh 2For the second time a business with an office in the council’s Atria development on Morrison Street has won an award for their office space.

PwC’s Edinburgh office has been recognised as one of the best workplaces in Scotland at the annual British Council for Offices (BCO) Scottish property sector awards. The prestigious BCO awards programme recognises top quality office design and functionality and sets the standard for excellence in the regional and national office sector.

Having recently relocated to Atria, one of the city’s newest office developments, PwC’s Edinburgh office was named as the Best Fit Out of a Workplace.

The staff consultation process which took place throughout the transformation also led to PwC being nominated for the national Innovation award which will be announced in October. PwC exemplified the judges’ belief that while ‘property is physical – it is truly about the people’ and that the organisation had delivered a ‘masterclass in engagement’ having successfully consulted its workforce throughout the fit-out process. This engagement ensured that employees were passionate about their new work environment upon completion of the project.

PwC EdinburghThe transformational relocation of PwC’s Edinburgh office ties to the business’s mission statement, “Together: One Firm, One Space, One Future”. After grasping the opportunity presented by a large single floor in Edinburgh’s newest and greenest office development, the judges particularly congratulated PwC for taking the decision to relocate in advance of its lease expiry, and for considering structured interaction with staff and clients at every stage of the process. The new office provides a coherent mix of spaces to create a single and unified workspace that delivers to a range of different business needs.

Judging Chairman, Stephen Lewis of HFD Group, commented:  “The entries for this year’s BCO Scottish Awards have been outstanding across all categories. All winners excelled in a variety of factors including design, materials used and efficient use of space. The winning project in Edinburgh demonstrates how effectively the occupier’s vision has been incorporated in the physicality of the space.”

Richard Kauntze, Chief Executive of the BCO, added: “This year’s awards reflect the outstanding quality of new office development across Scotland. The winning PwC Edinburgh office is a prime example of how a workspace can be used to engage staff and its credentials exceed industry standards to offer inspiration for other businesses.”

This is the seventh year the Regional Awards have been presented locally in Scotland, celebrating excellence in office space regionally, before all winners go on to compete at a national level at the National Awards on Tuesday 6th October 2015. The awards lunch, held at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow, was attended by over 290 of the country’s top designers, developers, architects and occupiers.
