All you need to know is that between the 5th and 31st of August this year you could have the time of your life in Edinburgh at one of four Fringe venues all sharing the same ticketing site: Assembly, Gilded Balloon, Pleasance and Underbelly which all come under the Edfest.com umbrella.

The press were invited to the programme launch at Dovecot to hear what is ahead of us this summer and we were all given a programme to take home. This programme and this part of the Fringe is sponsored by The Times and Karen Koren of Gilded Balloon explained that this media partnership was ‘a very good fit’.

They have so much fun to offer you this Fringe from big names to big tops and a whole host of other shows in between that you would struggle to even see all of this. (and remember we have the Fringe programme launch proper soon!)

So is it all just too much? How do you approach your Fringe selections? Do you simply take a pin and stick it in the programme? Do you pore over it and choose carefully? There are so many shows on offer and it is hard to know sometimes what will be good and what will be mediocre.

We had the good fortune to catch Ed Bartlam of Underbelly and Karen Koren who is celebrating her 30th year on the Fringe this year in a very good natured and fun interview which you can see here when they draw some shows to your notice.

Karen and Ed were joined by William Burdett-Coutts of Assembly and Anthony Alderson Pleasance at the launch.

We interviewed Ed the other week about the Circus Hub Underbelly is planning for The Meadows:
