Two people have been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after police in Edinburgh recovered a qunatity of Class A drugs in the North of the city.

Officers carried out a search of a property in Muirhouse View yesterday (Thursday) and £500 of heroin was recovered from inside.

A 53-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman are scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Detective Inspector Stuart Harkness from the Gayfield Proactive Unit said: “Police Scotland maintains its commitment to tackling serious and organised crime and removing offenders from our communities.

“Whenever we receive information relating to drug crime or associated criminal activity, we will carry out a thorough investigation into the report.

“I would encourage anyone who wishes to report ongoing crime in their local area to do so by calling Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
