Brian McKenzie

A man who subjected various women to a series of physical and sexual attacks has today been sentenced to an Order for Life Long Restriction and to a minimum of 7 years imprisonment.

At the High Court in Edinburgh in April 2015, Brian McKenzie was convicted for a total of nine offences carried out against three women and three children over a 13-year period.

The victims were aged between 8 and 40 at the time of the attacks.

The offences included physical and sexual violence which took place in the Edinburgh and Fife area.

Some of the victims had previously been involved in a relationship with the now 41-year-old McKenzie, and were identified as a result of proactive enquiries by Police Scotland’s Domestic Abuse Task Force.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam McCluskey from the DATF said: “Over several years Brian McKenzie subjected women and girls to systematic violence, abuse and sexual assault.

“I would like to thank all the victims for their courage and assistance during the police enquiries as this was vital to securing his conviction.

“Police Scotland is committed to bringing those responsible for domestic abuse and sexual offences to justice, and we will always carry out a robust investigation whenever offences of this nature are brought to our attention.

“Anyone wishing to report a crime can do so by contacting us on 101 or by making an anonymous report through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
