Ash Denham, MSP for Edinburgh Eastern, and Ben Macpherson, MSP for Edinburgh North and Leith have both been appointed Parliamentary Liaison Officers by the First Minister.

Denham has been appointed as PLO to the Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, while Macpherson has been given the role of working closely with the First Minister.

Commenting, Ms Denham said: “Parliamentary Liaison officers play a key role in maintaining a good relationship between the Scottish Parliament and Scottish Government, and I am honoured and excited to be given this responsibility so early in my role as representative for Edinburgh Eastern. I will undertake it with great commitment and dedication.”

Ben Macpherson MSP said:  “The job of a PLO comes with a considerable amount of responsibility. I am honoured and privileged to be appointed by the First Minster to this role.

“I am very keen to get started and help to make sure that there is a positive relationship between Government and Parliament.”
