Edinburgh City 0 Montrose 1

Ladbrokes Scottish League Two – Saturday 17 September 2016, Meadowbank Stadium

Edinburgh City are still looking for their first win as a SPFL side after they went down 1-0 to Montrose at Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday.

The Gable Endies were also looking for their first league win of the season which they duly got when Gary Fraser got the game’s only goal on the hour mark after City keeper Calum Antell let the ball squirm from his grasp.

City had chances – notably Ross Allum’s first half effort which was cleared off the line – but they desperately need a cutting edge up front. Not even former Hearts and Celtic striker Craig Beattie, on as a first half substitute, could help.

Montrose were reduced to ten men when Terry Masson was sent off towards the end but Paul Hegarty’s side held on for what could be an important win.

City remain rooted at the foot of the table and are now four points behind Montrose and Stirling Albion.
