A police investigation is underway after an eight-year-old girl and a 48-year-old woman were seriously injured in an incident which happened around 1.30am on Wednesday morning at an address in Danube Street.
The girl was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children where she is being treated for her injuries whilst the woman is currently being treated at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
A police spokeswoman said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances however officers are not currently looking for anyone else at this time.”
