EX-Braehead Clan player Travis Fullerton broke the hearts of his former team-mates with a late save to earn battling Edinburgh Capitals a valuable road win.
The Canadian stopper denied Daniel Ahsberg late-on to frustrate Clan and the Purple Army but Capitals were always ahead in this Elite League clash.
Mason Wilgosh netted in the opening two minutes when a scramble in front of C;lan netminder, Michal Zajkowski’s, crease saw the puck break to the Capitals marksman who swept it home.
Corey Cowick, just back from a four-game ban, claimed the equaliser four minutes later when he stole the puck from Capitals defenceman Mike D’Orazio to poke it low behind Fullerton.
Michal Dobron, however, restored Edinburgh’s lead on the powerplay 57 seconds later when the player/coach smashed a shot from the blue line past Zajkowski.
Braehead levelled when Matt Beca fired in low with eight minutes on the clock but Yevgeni Fyodorov netted with a diagonal shot for the game-winner after 25 minutes and Capitals held on for the two welcome points in their bid to claim a play-off place.
