Several hundred cyclist gathered today (Saturday) in the Meadows to take part in the 2017 Pedal on Parliament. The event was policed fairly discretely by Edinburgh’s Police Cycle Division, and was escorted on it’s journey by Police Motorcycle outriders.

This was the sixth event and, this year, events were also taking place in Aberdeen and Inverness (Saturday), followed up with another in Glasgow (Sunday).

Ironically, considering the remit, the start was delayed by traffic congestion and road works on the Royal Mile.

Despite these slight setbacks, the event went off successfully and the participants eventually gathered outside the Scottish Parliament building to hear a variety of speakers.
