Police are appealing for witness following a robbery which happened about 5.20pm yesterday at Cashino on Leith Walk.

A 24-year-old man was working alone in the premises when the suspect entered and threatened him with a meat cleaver before making off with a four figure sum of money.

The suspect is described as white, 35-45 years old, approximately 6ft, stocky build, clean shaven with a local Edinburgh accent.

He was believed to be wearing a dark navy heavy weatherproof jacket, dark blue jeans, dark navy cotton beanie hat with light coloured stripes, dark wraparound sunglasses and black ski style gloves

Detective Constable Stephen Herd of Gayfield CID said:“The victim wasn’t injured but this was obviously a very distressing ordeal and we’re pursuing various lines of enquiry to trace the suspect.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who can help us identify the suspect and those with information are asked to contact police immediately.

“In addition, anyone who has any information about this incident, or who was in the Leith Walk area on Monday 15th May around 5.20pm and saw anything suspicious should also get in touch.”
