Maisie Adam has been announced as the winner of 2017’s So You Think You’re Funny? competition, in the 30th year of the UK’s original comedy talent search at the 70th Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Following heats across the country, Maisie Adam is winner of this year’s competition, with Sarah Mann coming in as first runner-up and Morgan Rees coming in as second runner-up.

 

The So You Think You’re Funny? Grand Final was compered by 2013’s winner Aisling Bea and is presided over by a panel of judges comprised of industry experts. This year, they were:

 

Artistic Directors of the Gilded Balloon, Karen & Katy Koren, Director of Melbourne International Comedy Festival Susan Provan, Senior Producer at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival Zoe Rabnett, Beyond the Joke’s Bruce Dessau, Sunday Times Comedy Critic Stephen Armstrong, and special guest judge, Fringe favourite and former SYTYF winner David O’Doherty.

 

Karen & Katy Koren and the So You Think You’re Funny? team  congratulated all of this year’s fellow finalists – Amira Saied, Archie Henderson, Eric Rushton, Esther Manito, Jamie D’Souza, Kirsten Brown, and Robin Allender.

 

Maisie will win a cash prize of up to £2500, a trip to perform at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival 2018, a trip to perform at Bergen’s Humour Fest 2018, a run as part of Gilded Balloon’s 2018 Fringe programme, a complimentary professional headshot photoshoot by Steve Ullathorne, complimentary filmed copy and professional photographs of the winner’s spot from the Grand Final to use in their show reel alongside mentorship and support from Karen Koren and the So You Think You’re Funny? team.
