A female driver was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by paramedics  following a two-car crash involving  a VW Golf and a Vauxhall Corsa, which took place on Telford Road, outside the Telford Arms pub, shortly after 7am this morning.

The extent of her injuries is not known and another person was treated at the scene.

Emergency services were called out to the scene of the crash and the westbound side of the road was closed  causing delays for drivers in the area.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We dispatched one ambulance and one paramedic response unit.

“One patient was transported to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and one patient was treated on the scene.”

Police reopened the road around 8.25am.
