Four men have been convicted at Edinburgh High Court of the abduction and assault of a man in Edinburgh.

Hooman Sojoodi (now 22), Arnold Nuta Mukueto (now 23), Sanchez Facey (23) and Glen Elamo (20) were found guilty of abduction and assault to serious injury, which took place in February of this year.

The men abducted a now 27-year-old man from an address in the Hyvots area, and drove to the Buckstone Road area where he was able to escape from the boot of the car.

Sojoodi was detained on the night of the incident and detectives conducted enquiries to trace the remaining members of the group.

Officers from Edinburgh liaised with colleague from Warwickshire Police, West Mercia Police and the Metropolitan Police and conducted enquiries, which included speaking with a large number of witnesses who came forward at the time to assist the investigation.

The enquiries led to Mukueto, Facey and Elamo being traced and detained and brought to trial in Edinburgh.

Detective Inspector Bruce Coutts of Corstorphine CID said: “This was an extremely frightening experience for the victim and we believe that the men were intent on causing him serious harm.

“We are extremely grateful to the public and our colleagues from other forces who came forward to provide vital information which helped ensure this conviction.

“Police Scotland continues its fight against organised crime and will work with the public and partners to bring perpetrators to justice.”
