Travis Fullerton comes up against his former club, Edinburgh Capitals, at The Dundee Ice Arena on Saturday (face-off 7pm) on a high.

The Canadian-born netminder received huge praise from his coach, team-mates and fans after his eye-catching performance against Milton Keynes Lightning.

Stars coach, Omar Pacha, believes that was Fullerton’s best game of the year so far.

He was battered by 42 shots in the 60 minutes, saving 41 of them in a 5-1 Elite League success which has boosted confidence in the squad.

The player, according to Pacha, exuded confidence from the off, making telling stops throughout the game, particularly in the opening session.

And the coach believed Fullerton’s stop from experienced, Canadian-born former Cardiff Devils marksman Guillaume Doucet turned the game.

The Canadian playcaller said: “Travis showed unbelievable composure. He was so confident and had his best game of the year.”

The other players fed of 29-year-old Fullerton who started his British career with Braehead Clan.

The 6ft 1in stopper from Riverview only played 13 games for Clan and was snapped up by Capitals last season.

There he iced in 46 games and buttressed Capitals defence in a year in which the Murrayfield men failed to make the end-of-season play-offs.

Fullerton was not the only key to Sunday’s welcome win. Pacha believes scoring the first goal was pivotal.

And he was delighted that defenceman Joey de Concilys chipped in with two goals. So did Tyler Brickler and Pacha said: “A defenceman scoring two goals for us is huge.”

Now, Fullerton and Pacha now focus on Edinburgh. Pacha said: “Milton Keynes are a really good team but we battled hard and drove to the net, picking up re-bounds. We’ll need to do that again on Saturday.”
