Berwick Bandits have confirmed the return of their Rider of the Year.

Jye Etheridge became the fourth rider to sign up for the 2018 season.

The Australian-born rider was one of the most improvers in the SGB Championship last season raising his calculated match average from 1.20 points in 2016 to 5.06 points in 2017.

He joins fellow-Australians Aaron Summers and Kevin Doolan alongside British star David Howe in the Bandits line-up.

Scott Courtney, the club’s co-promoter/owner, said: “Jye impressed me with his performance in the 2016 Stars of Tomorrow meeting at Berwick.

“I remember thinking that anyone who gets up off the deck that many times and still gives it 100 per cent is made of tough stuff.

“I’m sure Jye has progression in mind for 2018 and we are excited to see him line up once again for the Bandits.”
