Local funeral director, William Purves, has saved the vandalised memorial stone of Edinburgh’s Greyfriars Bobby ahead of an event to mark the 146th anniversary of Bobby’s master’s death.

The stone had been vandalised earlier in the month and The City of Edinburgh Council thought they were unable to repair it in time.

Tim Purves, chairman and fifth generation of the Scottish family firm heard about the stone and contacted the Council to arrange a memorial repair in time for the anniversary event.  Tim said : “We’re delighted to share our expertise for this well loved landmark.”
